We've been teaching family medicine since 1973, and have turned out almost 300 of the brightest, most talented, and most dedicated family physicians around. In 2007 we took the next step in our evolution and became a nation model for innovation in graduate medical education when we developed the nation's first comprehensive 4 year curriculum in family medicine as part of the Preparing the Personal Physician for Practice (P4) initiative.
Today we are viewed as a national leader in the field. Our curriculum was the model for the next generation of four year residencies through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Length of Training Pilot. We will participate in through 2022, informing the future of residency training in family medicine. We remain, however, firmly rooted in our core values:
We will prepare physicians with a passion for Family Medicine to flourish in innovative and varied practice settings through exceptional education and clinical care.
As national leaders in Family Medicine education we will:
Attract committed and well educated learners and meet their diverse individual training needs by offering a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that provides superior preparation for 21st century practice.
Prepare teachers and learners to lead improvement in the health of their patients, populations and communities, while promoting wellness and balance in their own lives.
Provide our patients with the safest, highest quality care and best experience and value within a high functioning Patient-Centered Medical Home.
