Ellen funWhy did I choose Middlesex?

I was looking for a residency program that would give me excellent training in full-spectrum family medicine in a supportive yet challenging environment, and it was quickly apparent that Middlesex would be a perfect fit. I was attracted to the four-year curriculum since it would allow me to have extra clinical experience, take electives, and focus on a particular track within Family Medicine. My partner is a resident at UConn so the location was also a perfect distance for couples matching. I loved meeting the current residents and faculty during my interview and I know Middlesex will be a wonderful place to learn and grow.

About my track and future goals…

I am interested in full-spectrum medicine, women’s health, and obstetrics so I am looking into doing a Maternal Child Health Track. I’m not quite sure what the future holds but I know that I enjoy variety and would like to continue to provide care in diverse settings. My partner and I certainly could envision ourselves staying in Connecticut (possibly Middlesex area).

When I’m not on call I’m…

Going on nature walks, caring for my bonsai and indoor plants, hanging with my pets, playing board games, watching horror movies/shows, and hanging out with my partner and/or awesome co-resident friends

A fun fact or two about me…

My partner and I have a variety of unusual pets, including snakes, chameleons, frogs, salamanders, and fish, most of which are kept in bio-active (live-environment) set-ups. We joke that we have turned our home into a zoo/botanical garden.
