Burchsted, Shelley, M.D.

A Connecticut native, Dr. Burchsted pursued a career as an art and production manager before entering medical school. At Middlesex she continued her passion for caring for a community as a resident in our East Hampton office. She participated in our Behavioral Medicine Track of Excellence, with a focus on pain management and addiction medicine. As a resident she developed a novel interdisciplinary pain consult service for Middlesex Health's Middlesex Hospital. She was highly active as a scholar, generating four national presentations and two peer-reviewed publications during residency. After graduation she entered community practice in East Haddam, Connecticut, where she provides outpatient and inpatient care to an underserved rural population.
