Track Leader: Otto Weis, M.D.
This track is designed to provide for additional training for residents interested in immersion experiences in Hospital Medicine and preparation for Recognition of Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine through the ABFM.
By the end of the track the resident will be able to:
Be competent with the knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical judgement skills expected of a hospitalist.
Be knowledgeable of the systems issues in Hospital Medicine involving QI, Practice Guidelines, and Safety.
Prepare for Certification by the ABFM for Recognition of Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine.
Core Curricular Components
Middlesex Hospital and the Hospitalist Inpatient Service will be the prime educational site. Experiences will focus on inpatient and Transitional Care and Consultative Co-Managment. Committee involvment will include Quality, Safety, and Clinical Reasoning working closely with Inpatient Hospitalist Leadership and FM hospital leadership as well. Completion of six MC-FP hospital related activities including the Hospital Medicine SAM.
