Why did I choose Middlesex?
So many reasons... First of all, the culture. Everyone here including attendings, staff, nurses, you name it, are so kind, supportive, and engaged in your learning. Middlesex is an unopposed, community based program, which was exactly what I was looking for. On my interview and second-look days, the residents here just glowed when talking about the program. Second, I was drawn to the ability to obtain excellent training in both inpatient and outpatient medicine. The balance here is remarkable. Additionally, with the fourth year and the individualized tracks, you really have time to pursue your interests and become competent in the skills you want to use in your practice. Third, you really get to be the primary care doctor for your own panel of patients, even caring for them in the hospital if they are admitted!
About my track and future goals...
I love women's health, obstetrics, pediatrics and procedures. I'm in the Maternal Child Health Track with a focus on advanced obstetrical skills. I'd like to work in a rural community after residency doing full spectrum family medicine including c-sections.
When I'm not on call I'm...
On top of a mountain or in the woods. I love to ski, hike, and go backpacking. My husband and I adopted a dog my intern year, who is a joyful addition to our family, and I also learned a new sport and started mountain biking in residency. There are awesome mountain biking trails here!
A fun fact or two about me...
I was a Crossfit trainer in medical school and an alpine ski racer during college.
