Melman, Lauren, M.D., I.B.C.L.C.

Melman CasualDr. Melman formerly worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador. Prior to joining the Middlesex faculty, she served as a pediatric hospitalist at the Hospital of Central Connecticut and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Her professional interests include maternal-child health, breastfeeding support, children’s literacy and inpatient pediatric care.

At Middlesex Dr. Melman cares for patients and teaches residents in both our newborn nursery and our Portland office.

What I like best about working at Middlesex...

Middlesex Health is a forward-looking gem where staff and administration truly care about what is best for patients and value their employees. It is fun to work in such a friendly and laid back environment.

My favorite thing to do with residents is...

I love to sit down at lunch with the residents and hear about all of the amazing things they spend their time doing in and out of residency. I particularly enjoy when they call me with an interesting patient issue and we problem solve together. Collaboration with residents makes me a better doctor.

What I do for fun...

With three of my own kids in tow, when I am not taking care of babies in the nursery or pediatric patients in Portland, I spend as much time outside as possible. We snowshoe and sled in the winter and bike, hike and picnic in the summer. I also love to cook and can often be found watching cooking shows.
